Good Food Enhances Beautiful Skin

The old adage, You Are What You Eat really does hold true when it comes to healthy skin. While eating a balanced diet is great for the whole body, it appears there is a long list of foods which target great skin care.

Below are some foods and drinks to add to an already existing skincare routine.

Avocados

Before pushing away the guacamole for fear it may pack on the pounds, think twice about it. Avocados are a monounsaturated fat. That is the healthy kind of fat needed in our diet. Avocados burst with vitamins C and E. These two types of vitamins are known to be responsible for combating aging skin.

Green Tea

Green tea has a host of head to toe body benefits and one on this top tier list is the skin. Green tea is packed with antioxidants, vitamins and minerals such as C, K, D, iron, zinc, calcium, and more.

Berries Galore

While tapping upon the subject of green tea and its antioxidant properties, berries have a whopping amount of antioxidants. What types of berries are on this list? The choices are immense which include strawberries, raspberries, cranberries, blackberries, and of course, the antioxidant powerhouse of them all, blueberries.

Berries promote collagen production. Collagen is what makes skin smooth and younger looking. Antioxidants, on the other hand, reduce the effect of free radicals which lead to early skin damage, which includes wrinkles, blotches, and droopiness.

Salmon Like avocados, salmon has its healthy fat which offers omega-3 fatty acids. This fat fosters healthy skin while putting the brakes on wrinkles and other types of premature skin aging. Other types of fish high in omega-3-fatty acids are sardines, albacore tuna, mackerel, lake trout, and herring.

Sunflower Seeds

High in vitamin E, sunflower seeds can push back the skin aging clock. Vitamin E is an anti-aging aid.

While chiming in on what to put into your body, it is a better time than any to mention what to reduce. Caffeine and alcohol is known to dehydrate the skin. The youthful appearance of firm and full skin can be wiped away with too much caffeine and alcohol. The rule of thumb is to consume no more than two caffeine beverages a day and to be mindful of your alcohol intake.

Staying young, beautiful and radiant is truly embraced by what goes into the body.
