If the reflection in the mirror is beginning to reveal some wrinkles, simple daily changes can help you push the clock back a few years or more. Easy modifications can actually make you look as young as you really feel.
If an age-defying skincare regimen is already in place, here are three more “things you can do” to conquer those wrinkles even more.
Avoid The Sun
Even though the sun’s warmth may feel great on your bare skin the truth of the matter is that it’s the leading cause of wrinkles. Although sun-worshipers hate to hear it, the after effects of tanning will result in more wrinkles over time. If being outdoors is a must, by all means, wear sunscreen to block out future wrinkles, and most of all, skin cancer. There are great products out there such as Obagi Nu-Derm Sun Shield SPF 50 Sunscreen Lotion and La Roche-Posay Anthelios 60 Melt In Sunscreen Lotion.
And when you’re out and about, remember to wear sunglasses. It will protect the delicate skin around your eyes.
Get Restful Sleep
When your body is deprived of a good night’s sleep, it will naturally produce extra cortisol. Too much cortisol will weaken and collapse skin cells within the body. Conversely, a good night’s sleep will supply the human growth hormone, making skin thicker and less prone to wrinkles.
While on the topic of sleep, a study presented by the American Academy of Dermatology Study showed that sleeping on one’s back is best. Fetal and stomach sleep positions can promote stubborn wrinkles on the cheeks, neck, chin, brows, and upper chest.
If you find yourself squinting to read words on a page or to see what’s in front of you, it might be time to visit an optometrist. Aside from vision help, less squinting means you’ll have decreased wrinkles around the eyes, forehead and glabella (the space between your eyebrows).
Following these simple tips will stomp the wrinkles away.
